Here are the basic tango terms you need to know
Milonga - a social tango event.
Tanda - a set of three or four songs. A tanda must have a certain style. You normally dance a tanda with the same partner.
Twelve minutes is the duration of the average tanda.
Cortina - a break or ‘curtain’ in between tandas.
Porteño - all things that originate in Buenos Aires, including the people.
Tanguidad - a sensibility, a state of mind that tinges everything with nostalgia. You can have tanguidad without knowing anything about tango
Tanguero/ tanguera - people who live and breathe tango.
Tangoholic/ tango addict - someone who can't stop dancing (note for Tangoholics: Twelve Minutes of Love is a human story, not a dance manual or a milonga guidebook. The mechanics of the dance and the milonga circuit have been simplified, in order not to bore normal people to death.)
Tangasm - yes please!
